UK BioIncubator Forum

From across the UK a number of key BioIncubators have joined together to strengthen their offering to the early stage life science sector. BioIncubators play a major role in the support of this community *with almost half of all life science companies formed in the last five years currently based in a BioIncubator/Biopark.

Being part of a strong life science community can add credibility to an innovative and novel business struggling to become established and companies located on BioIncubator sites benefit from co-location and a sharing of resources with other fledgling organisations experiencing similar business challenges.

In addition to a physical base, BioIncubators are able to provide specialist facilities out with the reach of many new companies, keeping capital and revenue costs to a minimum and providing stability to the balance sheet.  Further backing comes in the form of access to investor networks and business support frameworks specifically designed for fledgling companies requiring intensive business assistance. *A recent report concluded that this high level of support is a major contributing factor in the success of companies attracting investment, with companies based on BioIncubators being almost twice as likely as those outside to have obtained external funding and the amount  invested in those companies is almost double that of non-incubator business.

By working together the members of the UK BioIncubator Forum are able to generate connectivity across the UK, networking into other regions’ strengths to help overcome local factors that limit the growth of their tenants as well as providing an interface with government, academia and the business community.
